I graduated from Red River College with a Diploma in Electronics Technology.  My career has included experience in a wide variety of equipment and systems.

Starting out with Manitoba Hydro, I gained experience in microwave systems, VHF radio, power systems and digital control systems. This time also provided me with my first experience with remote areas of Manitoba.

After the beginning of the satellite era, residential and commercial television receive systems became a big part of my employer’s business and my responsibilities expanded to include design of head end and cable systems.

VSAT later became an important expansion of the satellite world, filling the need for commercial two-way satellite that now provides business internet connectivity for areas not covered by other forms of internet service. Providing service to VSAT systems has taken me to most remote communities in Manitoba and Northwest Ontario as well as some in Nunavut and Northwest Territories. Notably in the early 2000’s I worked with the organization providing the Polar Bear Cam to international watchers. It involved some thrilling up close views of polar bears in the wild.

A side trip into the world of commercial computers provided me with a grounding in mainframe computer systems (largely irrelevant now) and also some experience in the very early pc field. Although most of what I actually worked on has been recycled long ago, the basic concepts learned have provided a foundation for working with computers and data communications to this day.

Broadband wireless caught my attention by 2000 and through university courses, manufacturer training and self study my qualifications improved to the point I was able to turn the field into a major area of business for my employer. System design, path studies, equipment specification, configuration, installation and testing were all part of my responsibility. Systems as small as a single point to point link to as large as 40 plus sites interconnected in a private network were part of what we accomplished. Commercial wifi systems were also an important part of this field.

As my employer at the time was very involved with tower systems and the installation of cellular infrastructure, I gained a lot of experience with the civil site of the telecommunications field. My responsibilities included everything from preparation of proposals and procurement of equipment to doing the project management and running crews. I also got to climb towers from time to time which I found quite enjoyable.

My decision in 2018 to start my own business has led me to this point in my career. I sincerely hope I can use my extensive experience and knowledge in this field to provide solutions for your telecommunications challenges.
